So far, so good...

Sorry to have left everyone in the dark over the past couple of days... Apple has been to kindergarten for three mornings now and she is really, really enjoying it a lot.

There are a lot of similarities between her old school and her new one since they are both Montessori schools. She is very familiar with a lot of the work that is on the shelves so she was able to go in and pick up some work and start right away. There are also a lot of new things that she never did in her old school.

Her head teacher has a British accent, so at first, she was a little shy. I still think she is shier than normal, but she's coming out of her shell slowly. I've met and talked with a lot of the parents of the kids in her class. A lot of them have had older siblings who've been in the classroom before or they are children returning to the same classroom. (Montessori keeps children in the same classroom for 3 years) They all say WONDERFUL things about her teacher, the school and the environment. So, I'm feeling very confident that we made a good decision.

There are also some differences between her new school and her old school. For instance, there is a central bathroom down the hall from their class rather than each classroom having their own individual bathrooms. The teachers serve the children snack instead of the children serving themselves... and they all eat snack at the same time. And, the playground for their classroom SUCKS compared to what Apple is used to. Luckily, since she's in the older group of kids, she will get to go to the big playground next week when the full days begin. The big playground will be lots of fun for her.

One thing that hasn't changed? Her picky eating... She has had snack at school for the past two days. The first day, they served grapes and animal crackers. Today, they served carrot sticks and pretzels. Of all that, she only ate one animal cracker yesterday. So, her teacher told me today that I could pack her a snack that she could keep in her cubby in the event that they served something that she didn't like. The teacher said that she didn't want Apple to get hungry because the mornings are fairly long. (they won't eat lunch until noon... Apple is used to eating around 11:30) I thought that was very nice and cooperative of the teacher.

We'll see how tomorrow goes...

I still can't believe she's in kindergarten... :(
