For years, when we've asked Apple this question, the only response we have gotten was "Good".
Well, starting a new school, this just wasn't going to cut it. We needed more info!!
So, I started this new thing in the afternoon/evenings where she has to tell me 5 things about her day! It's worked pretty well. She's griped and grumbled from time to time, but for the most part, she gives me info on what she's doing at school.
For instance...
They are making 3D globes in her afternoon class.
A student brought in a pet snake and turtle to show the class.
She's learning new tricks on the monkey bars.
She really enjoys eating her boxed lunchs and especially getting notes from mom in them. :)
She has read a few books to her teachers already.
She had PE for the first time yesterday before lunch.
So, last night, as we were eating dinner, she said, "Do you know what the Spanish word for red is?" My husband and I said, "Rojo". She said, "What about green?" ... and then it clicked, she wasn't just repeating what she's learned from Noggin... She's had Spanish at school.
I asked her, "Has the Spanish teacher been to your class?"
"Yes"
"What have you learned?"
"Spanish for red, white, blue, green, black and pink."
"When did she come to your class?"
"Ummm... like last Thursday."
HELLO?? Why wasn't that mentioned in her 5 things for that day.
We obviously still have some work to do on this...
